Reporting your child's absence

Please contact the school office on the first day of your child’s absence-a message can be left via the school answerphone.  This is essential as schools are legally obliged to keep records of both authorised and unauthorised absences.  If your child has a dental or medical appointment, please notify the school in advance, especially if a school meal is required.  Children who attend such appointments MUST be collected from school by an adult, and will not be allowed to leave school unaccompanied.

Following constant reviews of attendance figures and as previously advised, the Governors and the Headteacher have taken the decision to follow Government and County guidance on improving school attendance by following the system for legal intervention. May we remind all parents/carers that the law requires them to ensure that their child attends school regularly.  The Government remains very clear that no child should miss school apart from in exceptional circumstances and schools must continue to take steps to reduce absence to support children’s attainment. The Local Authority operates a system where any pupil who meets the criteria for legal intervention will be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice.

If parents decide to take their children away for a holiday during term time, a leave of absence form must be completed. These are available from the school office or by downloading the form below.
